No, I still do art

Sat Oct 17, 2009, 10:22 PM
  • Mood: Neutral
  • Listening to: "Colors" - Barcelona
  • Reading: Scott Pilgrim Vol. 5
  • Watching: FMA: Brotherhood
  • Playing: Dissidia - Final Fantasy
  • Eating: Oreos
  • Drinking: Chocolate Milk
It's funny how often I used to spend on this website when I was younger. Now, I barely go on it. But as the title of this entry states: Yes, I still make artwork and I intend to show you what exactly it is I do. Sadly, this doesn't involve the tragic love of two recolored sonic the hedgehog sprites desperately seeking love against some sort of silver haired antagonist. But I'm sure you'll all understand.

"Punch the Earth", Summer Movies and Why

Sun Jun 21, 2009, 10:53 PM

  • Listening to: "Sweet Home Chicago" - The Blues Brother
  • Reading: D.Gray-Man Vol.6
  • Watching: The Da Vinci code
  • Playing: Mother 3
  • Eating: Ice Cream
So here I am, updating this ridiculous log of my adventures in art. But what's this? NO ART? AGAIN? Really now, what were expecting? I took a look at some of the pictures and what not that I was planning to post here and to be frank with you all, they really aren't anything to look at. A monkey could throw his feces against a wall and make something more attractive. Now granted, I'm aware this is deviant art and that crap pictures are just as run of the mill as the air we breath in this strange place. However, for some reason I have this insane artist block that just makes everything I draw feel and look like something lesser than monkey feces. I suppose I'll just have to recolor Sonic the Hedgehog sprites and make "original" furry characters like the everyone else.

OR: I could exercise a level of fucking dignity.

I've seen a couple of good movies this summer already:

:bulletblue:Gran Torino - Clint Eastwood is probably the most badass old man to ever walk this planet. He's probably just the most badass period. This movie was great, filled with racist jokes and that warm feeling in your heart about an old man beginning to accept the inevitable change of the society around him. See also:

:bulletblue:UP - Much like Gran Torino, except kid friendly. Old man slowly accepting the changes around him with the help of an Asian child. This movie surprised me, I didn't expect to enjoy it as much as I did. It followed the basic Pixar movie formula to a T, but don't let that scare you away. My favorite part was the very beginning, before the actual events of the movie really take place.

:bulletblue:Star Trek - I now have a respect for J.J. Abrams that Lost just couldn't provide. God damn does that bastard love time travel and everything relating to. Two words: Parallel Universe. This means that the meticulously charted and studied time line in the Star Trek Universe is kept mostly intact by creating a new time line that is more exciting for us folk who like explosions and photon torpedoes. And if you are worried that the new Spock is going to be just like Sylar, I assure you Zachary Quinto can actually act.

:bulletblue:Animal House - I don't understand how I never managed to see this movie until recently. The godfather of all college movies, the movie with all the things other college movies TRY to copy but fail miserably. And John Belushi was a riot to watch. I was also surprised by the level of nudity that was shown but hey, no complaints from me. If you don't like movies that feature fun things like vulgar humor or sexual conduct, then this isn't for you but it's just one of those movies you should see before you die.

One day, I truly will update this forsaken piece of the internet and I really will post artwork that will be ignored for recolored anime characters and Kingdom Hearts fanart. Until then, I'll be seeing you later.

Summer

  • Listening to: "Last Battle" - Koji Kondo
  • Reading: Least I Could Do
  • Watching: Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood
  • Playing: Final Fantasy IV
  • Eating: Muffin
  • Drinking: Milk
So the season of summer has finally arrived, or at least it will be here soon. Regardless, it'll be a nice change. Not 100% sure what I've got planned this summer, but I'm hoping for something to come up. As for some updates for my gallery, I'll post something later this week.

This journal may be subject to updates.

So I barely update, you expect something from me?

Thu Apr 2, 2009, 9:30 PM
  • Mood: Tired
  • Listening to: "Whirlwind" - Dispatch
  • Reading: The Adventures of Dr. McNinja
  • Watching: South Park
  • Playing: Star Wars: The Force Unleashed
  • Eating: Brownie
  • Drinking: Iced Tea
No fancy bullets, no people who watch me icons on the bottom and no weird promises to produce work. It'll be here when it gets here. However, I did feel it necessary to update my journal for the select few who watch me and actually follow my work. I've been doing some writing over the past couple of weeks so you may be seeing some of that in the near future seeing as it's easier to post than artwork (at least less thought is required). Been in a bit of a funk for a while, a little more than a month by now because of things I thought I had control of but in reality had no control over whatsoever. I was humbled with the gut-wrenching pain of disappointment, to say the least. Things like this happen in life I guess, really wish it didn't have to be the case. To me, it feels like a broken promise of sorts.

But enough about personal drama and the kind of stuff that makes you want to slit your wrists. I'm much better than I was a month ago, life goes on whether I want to or not I guess. Right now I can hear coyotes howling outside my bedroom window (yes, coyotes). It used to be blood curdling and rather scary but now I don't mind it so much. Fun times, right? I'll try to post more work that actually has substance to it, see where that takes me.

It's been some time

:bulletred: I know I don't update that much anymore. I occasionally post a new piece of art and I rarely seem to post a piece that has nothing to do with school. Oh well, it happens. I am waiting on a pair of headphones that I ordered online to show up. It's been damn near two weeks. Fun times, let me tell you.

I've seen a lot a good artists here on DeviantArt and each of them have "bedazzled" me in one way or another. However, the negative side effect of seeing someone who is better that you is that you begin to dread "not being good enough". I'm not going to lie and say that I am confident with my current level of skill. Compared to artists I see on DeviantArt and even my own classmates I feel terribly behind and the truth is that I am ashamed.

I have a very long way to go, that's all there is to it. I just hope I can meet my own expectations and perhaps even the expectations of others. (So when I see that something has been :+fav:, it won't be fan art.)

:bulletblue: Dollhouse starts this week! I'm kinda looking forward to this, seeing as Joss Whedon has created some really great shows before (Firefly, Dr. Horrible's, etc.) Haven't been keeping up with Heroes, has it become X-Men yet? Also: Went to see Coraline in theaters the other day and I was pleased. The 3D effects (you know, 3D? You put on the glasses and you are all like WOOOOOOHHH!) were spectacular and the movie was just overall fun. I highly recommend going to see it.

:bulletgreen: I have photos from last semester that need to come up here. Maybe even some written stuff as well. I promise not to art dump. After looking at some of those magic circle tutorials :icongamedragon89 showed me, I've been wanting to do something with that as well. I also experimented with some vector work a while back and I want to post what I have from that and some sprites I created for fun.

:bulletpurple: I can't stop watching this:
